Kindness is woven so tightly into the definition of love that it's easy to skim past it. But if we slow down and look at what kindness actually asks of us, we find something far more demanding and far more rewarding than simple politeness.

Our definitions of love are either diluted or entirely false. We start off on the wrong foot when we don’t understand the real meaning of love—that it means certain actions, not certain feelings. What love is, and what love isn’t, reflects both the character of God and the imperatives of his Word.
